TOP FOOTWEAR TRENDS F/W 2014-15. FASHION SNOOPS

There is a wide range of footwear options for men in the lace up and boot categories for Fall / Winer 2014-15. This report presents a round-up of picks from the Fashion Snoops editors, including ankle boot, brogue boot, durable derby, loafers, monk strap & monk strap boot, saddle shoe and trainers. Courtesy of FashionSnoops and weconnetfashion.com

ANKLE BOOT : The ankle boot was one of the strongest footwear items for men this season. The silhouette can go from casual to formal, with brands like Hardy Aimes choosing a low-cut combat boot to pair with suiting. Valentino and Daks alluded to a slight moto influence with their use of buckles and strap to toughen the boot.

BROGUE BOOT : One of the strongest boot options for men is the brogue boot. Design elements like wings, wingtips and side perforations are taken from a brogue shoe and put on the combat boot shape. Variation is brought to the style through mixed materials, burnished treatments, brighter colors and contrast soles.

HIKING BOOTS : Hiking boots continue to trend with slight variations. Speed and d-ring lacing remain but are not as prominent as in the past. Topman Design provides great commercial direction for this style, appealing to both the contemporary and young men markets. We also love the simplicity of Hermes' hiking boot for fall/winter.

LOAFERS : Loafers have proven themselves as a versatile footwear option for men through its ability to transition through all seasons. The winter loafer will see updates like a thick treaded sole (Prada and Versace), while those dapper English elements like tassels still appear (Oliver Spencer). We love the focus on the top, whether just a contrast or a technique like woven leather (Bottega Veneta).

SLIPPERS : Slippers are more luxurious than the monochrome styles of past seasons. Prints and patterns such as plaid, zig-zags and optical stripes, join lush materials like velvet to highlight this dandy footwear option.

For the Fall / Winter 2014-15 women's market, boots are heavily represented on the runway, majority in high heel form, from a shorter ankle style to a sexy over-the-knee silhouette. Despite the ever-present assortment of boots, we begin to see a shift towards more open, sandal-like styles leading us to believe that the shift to a seasonless assortment is also in full effect. Open-toe ankle booties, mules, strappy sandals and various open shank silhouettes reemphasize the seasonless movement in accessories. Courtesy of FashionSnoops and weconnetfashion.com.

LOW ANKLE BOOTS : Boots are making such a strong statement for the Fall/Winter 14/15 season with varying heel and shank heights. This low cut flat boot is practical and sleek, making it perfect for everyday wear in the coming season.

MARY JANE : Although the traditional mary jane silhouette was seen all over the runways, the t-strap mary jane was the most interesting update to this style for Fall/Winter 14/15.

OPEN TOE BOOTIE : The open toe bootie is one of the most important silhouettes for the Fall/Winter 14/15 season. The simple structure of the style makes it the perfect combination of practical and trendy.

OVER-THE-KNEE BOOT : Sexy and sleek, the over-the-knee boot is explosive for the Fall/Winter 14/15 season. Whether done in a stretch suede or a luxe leather, this style is a must have.

LACE UP SANDAL : Open cut outs and lots of foot exposure are no longer strictly for the summer months, as seen on the most recent runways. These lace front sandals are sexy and can be paired with tights for the colder season.

Women's Handbag Trends Fall / Winter 2014-15

Handbags which were once an accessory of practicality have thrown all of these useful attributes to the wind, providing an assortment of lust worthy arm candy from oversized hobos to the micro cross body for Fall/Winter 14/15. The coming season is heavily focused on what you can hold rather than carry with XL duffels being used as clutches and traditional evening silhouettes such as the minaudiere being used day to night. The battle between the soft and structured tote continues with more styles taking on geometric detailing in both categories. Menswear has a huge impact in handbags as it has in all other product categories in accessories, making the attache one of the hottest styles for the coming season. MINAUDIERE : The minaudiere has become a timeless handbag working with any look from day to night. This is among the hottest styles for Fall / Winter 14/15

MINI CROSS-BODY : The cross-body silhouette has been around for as long as we can remember but for the Fall/Winter 14/15 season we see the bags shrinking down to micro sizes making it the perfect no-fuss bag.

BOWLER : An easy silhouette for any woman to carry, the bowler bag becomes a more important style as we begin to see the traditional tote fade out for Fall/Winter 14/15.

ATTACHE : The attache gets its roots from that of menswear. With this briefcase style making cameos from New York to Milan it is certain to be a top seller for Fall / Winter 14/15

SOFT TOTE : The soft tote is one of the most popular silhouettes for Fall/Winter 14/15. A top handle and cross-body dual strap add practicality to this oversized silhouette.
